In June of 2013, I traveled to Red Corral Ranch in Wimberley, Texas for a Six -Day Intensive Integrative Breathwork Workshop. For a few years prior to that, I had been involved in very demanding work assisting a couple of clients with healing from years of horrendous mental, physical and emotional abuse. I went to the workshop in Texas hoping to release my emotions and stress related to the work I did. I also wanted to re-experience and review Integrative Breathwork as I had been facilitating workshops for others for nearly twenty years.
About two months before my trip I contacted a close friend, Kathy whom I have known since high school. She lived in Fort Worth, Texas and I wanted to reconnect with her. Kathy was excited that I was coming to Texas. We made plans to see each other and spend time together for three days after the Six Day Breathwork Workshop ended. She was going to drive to Austin to pick me up. I booked my airline flight to arrive in Austin and leave from Fort Worth/Dallas.
The week before I left for Texas, I tried calling Kathy to reconfirm our plans but I couldn’t reach her. Just thought she was busy. I knew she was going through challenging times with changing jobs and moving to a new place.
When I arrived at Red Corral Ranch, I tried calling her again. Several times. With no success. Our cell phone reception was limited but even so I was a little worried. My friend was a reliable and responsible person. One of the workshop participants (whom I had just met) offered me a ride with her to Houston. I was able to re-book my flight and leave from there.
After returning home to Michigan, I tried to find my friend in many different ways. I even checked the obituaries. This continued for several weeks going into months. Because I knew she was having difficulty, I prayed for her health and safety on a daily basis. The phone number I had for her was no longer in service. Last year, I thought I saw her son on Facebook. Sent him a message but no response. My prayers continued for both of them.
In March of this year, I was out at night walking the dog. Said my usual prayers to the Angels. I also talked to God, telling him how much I missed my friend and wondered if I would ever see her again. Two weeks later, in the middle of the day Kathy called me. I burst into tears. I couldn’t believe I was actually talking with her. I explained how I had tried to reach/find her for a long time. Kathy discovered my phone number in one of the boxes she had stored away. She wasn’t sure it was the right number but decided to try calling me. Sometimes I wait to answer my phone because I receive a lot of telemarketing calls. That day, for reasons unknown, I answered immediately.
Kathy did not remember a lot of what happened that summer of 2013. She moved to a new apartment in a different city and obtained a job in retail rather than teaching. She is happy and enjoying her life. I know never to underestimate the power of prayer. The results we hope for may take a while. I am grateful my prayers were heard and answered. So very thankful to God and the Angels that my friend is alive, safe, healthy and doing well.
